Crossroads "Roadie" is a big, athletic colt by the Grand Prix show jumper GK Calucci, out of the Thoroughbred mare Hekate. 

Hekate was bred to race, with the intention of a second career after the racetrack. From the female family of First Samurai, who is known for producing both race horses & sport horses.

Hekate raced modestly, earning just over $37,000, winning first time out as a 2yo. As a turf horse, she cross trained during her time at the racetrack, & has been started over fences, ditches, water, & will try her hand at eventing training after Roadie has been weaned this fall. 
 

Roadie is large for a first foal, with good conformation & an attractive expression. He should finish 16.1-16.2h, & would be suitable for both an eventing or show jumping career.

An impressive sport record, excellent character, & impeccable pedigree make GK Calucci a standout. He competed to the Grand Prix level, & his rideability made him a winner with professionals as well as amateurs. Not many Grand Prix horses, let alone one that is a stallion, are happy to show in a snaffle with their AA owner. GK Calucci has proven his reliability in the show ring time & again, earning top ribbons at shows such as HITS, Manchester, Devon, & WEF.

GK Calucci’s own success is rooted in a deep pedigree of showjumping talent. His sire Calido I, was ranked 1st in jumping at his Stallion Performance Test. Calido’s offspring have earned over 3.49 million Euros in sport & there are over 225 Calido offspring successful at S Level (Advanced).

GK Calucci’s grandsire, Acord II, was the winner of his Stallion Test with 146 points overall, including scores of 9 or higher for jumping ability & rideability. Acord II has sired S-level show jumpers & dressage horses. GK Calucci’s granddam had a strong competition career herself, & her offspring have competed up to 1.60 meters. Great-grandsire Contender is legendary, & his influence has been felt across all the major registries & with show jumping, eventing, & dressage breeders.
